Does Green Tea Help Hair Loss?


Hair loss during the early years occurs in a relatively small percentage of the population but it is considered a big problem. The hair is considered as a crowning glory of a person and if it begins to vanish, it results to many frustrations and emotional depressions. Everyone is concerned about their appearance and if it changes to something that may seem undesirable, the natural tendency is to have it fixed immediately. When it comes to hair, a lot of money is spent just to make it appear as the owner wants it to. In fact, a major industry on hair care products grew because of high demands for it. Similarly, hair loss products came to be a big industry because of these hair loss conditions. Prescription and over the counter hair loss preparations became a well sold items in drug stores. But as if these were not enough, people attempted to cure the condition in various ways and means imaginable. Some resorted to herbal preparations of their own while some combine various commercial medications even without the doctor’s consent.

An example of a method that is popularly used by people with hair loss is green tea. Consumption of green tea has many health benefits. One of this is the slowing of the aging process because of the presence of large amounts of antioxidants in the green tea leaves. Aging affects the hair growth. As a person matures, the hair tends to grow at a slower pace. By delaying the aging process, it is thought that losing hair will also be slowed down. At present, there is still no scientific evidence that green tea indeed prevents hair loss. As a matter of fact, consumption of it is thought by some to cause hair loss instead of preventing it. Some green tea brands may be marketed promoting its positive effect on this hair problem. Perhaps the best way of proving it is by observing its result on those that use green tea.
